What's going wrong
Site owners using this WordPress export plugin report that the spreadsheet files it creates cannot be opened in Excel 2010 or 2013, or open only after a corruption warning. Some find the XLS file contains plain HTML table code instead of spreadsheet data, and the XLSX version is often unreadable. Several people spent time trying to recover data they needed for work and gave up. The gap is clear: site owners need a dependable way to get posts and fields into a genuine spreadsheet file that Excel opens cleanly on the first try.
