What's going wrong
Owners of this WordPress plugin report that it stops working after WordPress upgrades, with reports ranging from version 4.0 through 4.9 and beyond. Several say the developer has not answered support threads for years and no compatibility update has arrived. Some have started looking for alternatives because they cannot keep a site on an old WordPress version just to keep the plugin running. Sites that rely on automatic typography for prose are left either unfixed or running abandoned code. This creates an opening for a maintained replacement or a compatibility monitoring service that tests typography filters against each new WordPress release and reports breakage before owners upgrade.
