What's going wrong
Site owners using this WordPress SMTP plugin report that Gmail and Microsoft 365 sending options appear in its description but only work in the paid version, and the free version does not make that clear. Reviewers feel misled when they install it expecting to send mail through their existing business email provider, then find the setting locked. Others say that since the major providers sit behind the paywall, the free version is little more than a basic mail relay that duplicates other free plugins. The opportunity is a free, honest connector for common mail providers, with paid features limited to truly advanced needs such as logging or multi-site routing.
